Artificial life and robotics fundamentally reframe our understanding of life, consciousness, and moral agency, challenging traditional philosophical boundaries. By simulating biological processes and endowing machines with increasing capabilities, these innovations force us to reconsider ethical and ontological categories. They raise questions about the nature of intentionality and responsibility, urging us to assess whether and how machines might possess forms of agency or be held accountable.
